DIY 1999 Ford Taurus Duratec 3.0 Repairs…Finally!
OK, until finally the Taurus turn. As I mentioned in my earlier video, the car has run on the original wires, plugs, fuel filter, trans filter, etc up to 182 000 + miles! It started slowly last week, as if I'm a little warmer outside. Now it was time for a full tune up, the trans was also shifting funny, kind of hunting around for gear in and out of overdrive and things like that. I started by finding out what it had transmission and my plan of attack for getting backthree spark plugs out. There is simply no place, not to mention for my hand to a wrench or socket wrench! I picked my parts on Friday for $ 120. This was for 6 Premium Platinum Autolite plugs, Premium Wire Set 8mm, tube sealing grease, transmission filter and gasket, 7 liters of gear oil, and a fuel filter. I began work on Friday after work. I pulled the plenum off after disconnecting the EGR valve, the air intake boot and some wires and hoses. 6 small screws and lifted the right imageOnce off of the road, I started changing the plug on the front of the engine and the rear plugs. I have the old wires back on the plug in order to change it later so as not to confuse. I changed the lines and the heat transferred from the old collars lines to new lines. I finished the job in about two hours. That's all I did Friday. Saturday morning I started cleaning the intake runners and plenum. That was a big job and took about four hours.
